1954
The Cooperative Concept is Born
In the face of mounting competition from national jan/san distributors, a group of independent business owners began discussions around a revolutionary idea: forming a cooperative. Their vision was simple yet powerful. By combining purchasing power and sharing marketing insights, they aimed to level the playing field. This collaborative spirit laid the foundation for what would become Triple S, built on the belief that independent distributors could thrive through unity.

1960
Triple S is Officially Formed
After several years of planning, the vision became reality. In 1960, Standardized Sanitation Systems was officially incorporated with bylaws, a name, and a logo. A unique first ad campaign titled “All our eggs in one basket” captured the cooperative essence of the organization. Four founding Members and six invited Members united to create a model unlike anything else in the industry, one that prioritized Member success through shared strength.
1963
Launch of SSS-Branded Products
Triple S began building its brand presence in the market by introducing its first line of proprietary products. Starting with mops and wringers, the product line quickly expanded to include the innovative Piggy Vac, a compact and effective vacuum solution. By 1964, the offering grew further with the introduction of a comprehensive chemical line and floor pads, setting a new standard in private-label performance for independent distributors.

1971
First Stock Dividend and County Fair
Marking a milestone in financial success, the Board approved the first Triple S stock dividend of 15 cents per share. That same year, Triple S hosted the inaugural County Fair, a unique trade show that combined supplier exhibitions with Member networking and training. With 55 of 62 Members and 36 suppliers attending, the event became a cornerstone of the Triple S culture.
1991
W. James Reider Retires from the Board
After more than 30 years of service, W. James Reider officially retired from the Board of Directors. As one of the original founders and the cooperative’s first President, Jim left a lasting legacy. During his tenure, he helped guide the organization through its early challenges and oversaw its growth into a nationwide network of thriving Members.

1996
Headquarters Moves to Billerica, MA
Triple S took a major step forward in operational capability with a move to a larger headquarters in Billerica, Massachusetts. The new location doubled the office space to accommodate 15 staff members and included a modernized computer network to support the growing needs of the organization and its Members.
2000
First RDC Opens in Cranbury, NJ
The opening of the first Regional Distribution Center in Cranbury, New Jersey marked a turning point in Triple S logistics. This move enabled improved product availability, faster order fulfillment, and greater efficiency for Members. It also laid the groundwork for scalable growth across the country.

2022
Headquarters Relocates to Nashua, NH
Reflecting changes in work culture and operational needs, Triple S relocated its headquarters to Nashua, New Hampshire. The move to a more efficient office space aligned with the company’s evolving hybrid work model and maintained strong collaboration among team members.
